Hello interior enthusiasts,
Designing kids’ rooms is one of my absolute favourite things to do. It’s where you can truly have fun bold colours, playful patterns, and unexpected textures are all welcome. But the challenge (and the magic!) is bringing all that creativity together into a room that feels cohesive, calm, and grows with your child over time.
A well-styled kids' room isn’t that hard actually, so here are some tips on how you can achieve the same thing by yourself:
1. Wallpapers are life savors
A bold or whimsical wallpaper can set the tone without overwhelming the space.
It’s a fun way to add personality and create a backdrop for the rest of the room.
But always keep in mind, a stylish kids bedroom isn’t a theme park.

2Avoid Going Too Childish
Skip the overly themed decor instead, choose timeless pieces with playful touches. This way, the room can evolve as your child grows.
Add pops of color, texture, or shapes through rugs, cushions, or wall art. Keep the vibe light and imaginative without crowding the space.
A muted green can be just as fun.
3Invest in Quality Pieces
Choose furniture that lasts and can transition from baby to toddler.
A beautiful dresser, a cozy reading chair, or a stylish bedframe can be both functional and design-forward.
You don’t have to keep all the items forever, but adding an adult touch to the room can make it instantly more sophisticated.

4Think Playful, Not Cluttered
Don’t underestimate storage Toys, books, crafts… it adds up. Beautiful and functional storage is key.
5 Let them in on the process
I’ve got two kids with sometimes questionable outfit choices, so I wouldn’t give them free ownership in the entire design proces.
But especially when they start to have an opinion on their own it might be nice to involve them in some design parts.
A few small choices, like picking a colour or art piece, gives them ownership of the space. But censored choices obviously.. Still the designer ;)
Enjoy designing
